This happens to many people and it seems to happen almost overnight. You wake up one morning and look at yourself in the mirror and think, “My God! What in the world happened? How did I get so fat?”

The answer… bad habits and a slow metabolism.

After you realize you don’t like the way you look you’ll probably reminisce about how you used to look and wish that you could get yourself back into that shape. The good news is YOU CAN lose the weight. The bad news is your never going to look the same as you did when you were 18. Time plays some funny tricks on our bodies and unfortunately the time machine hasn’t yet been invented.

No problem though, and don’t you worry one bit! Thankfully there are some things we can do to stop your belly growing fat and reverse this ugly process.

The first thing you need to do is make a commitment to yourself to lose the weight. In order for this to work you MUST honor your commitment and hold yourself accountable for the actions that you take. If you do not, I can guarantee that you will fall right back into your old habits and your belly fat will remain as a bulging lump, and you’ll never be able to see your feet again.

Set yourself up for success by creating a game plan to lose the weight. The biggest problem people have with weight gain is that they are just not knowlegeable about what they should and should not eat. You want to eat a well balanced diet that includes at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily.

Two things I would really recommend taking completely out of your diet are high fructose corn syrup products and deep fat fried foods.

High fructose corn syrups include most soda products and even many juices or fruit juice drinks. These products are loaded with sugar and empty calories and can be a huge culprit of belly fat.

Deep fat fried foods are along the same category as HFCS products and are among the worst things you can put into your body. French fries, wings, potato chips, egg rolls, etc. Stay away from both as much as possible. Ask for water and substitute a salad or steamed vegetebles for deep fat fried foods.

The choices you make on a daily basis will affect how big your belly is going to be. So keep that in mind everytime you go to eat a meal. Plan ahead and make your own meals so you aren’t forced to eat out every day. Remember that it only takes 21 days to form a habit and break an old habit so start weeding out the things that are bad and adding in the things that are good.

The other part to losing the belly fat is the exercise you work into your routine. I know the word exercise is absolutely dreadful to some people and feel as if they can’t do any exercises at all. That my freind is a normal feeling and nothing that anyone else hasn’t felt at some point.

The trick here is to use reverse psycholgy on yourself and change how you feel about working out. Try to use some tricks so you can learn to associate working out with good feelings. When you are working out play some music that will really get you in the mood. Reward yourself with some kind of treat afterword that you only get if you complete your workout.

When I am working out and wearing down to the point where I don’t think I can do anymore, I like to vision myself as a professional athlete, the “go to guy” at the end of the game and everyone is depending on me to push it just a little further to win the game. It hurts like hell very briefly but the results are more than worth the effort.

When you first start working out, the pain is going to feel more intense than it will a few weeks into it. Focus more on the end result rather than how you are feeling now. Push through the pain and defy your previous expectations. The results will show on the exterior and the people who you least expect to notice, will in fact notice and compliment you on the way you look. This will act as a tremendous motivator to continue your good habits and you will then begin to feel better on the inside as well.

After a while you’ll notice that you’ll not only look better but you’ll feel better. You’ll also be stonger and get sick less often, and things that normally would bring you down just won’t exist anymore because you’ll be so damn happy!

Really though I do implore you to take action if you find your belly growing fat. Do something about it before it’s too late.
